Pre-Arrangement:
Frequently Asked Questions

To simplify the process of prearranging your final wishes and to make sure you have the most accurate information available, we've compiled a list of frequently asked questions and answers. At Forever, we want our families to be as informed as possible so that you can make the best decisions concerning how you wish to be remembered.

Why should I prearrange my funeral?
Prearranging your final wishes is a kind and loving gift to your family and friends. While it is hard to face our own mortality, it is equally difficult for family members who must handle one of life’s most traumatic events. Your guidance in planning exactly the way you want to be remembered will ease the emotional burden later on.

Doesn't it make sense to include my funeral wishes in my will?
Yes, you can. However, wills are not necessarily read directly following a death. Funeral arrangements will be made before the will is read and your wishes may not be recognized. It's best to have your funeral plans kept in a safe location where your family can access them immediately.

Can I make my funeral wishes on my own?
Certainly. But, consider the value of prearranging with a funeral service professional. A specialist can guide you through the process in a logical, well documented manner.

If I do go to a funeral home for prearranging, what will happen?
The preplanning specialist at the funeral home is-well versed in the funeral service industry and state law. Your specialist will provide you with detailed information on funeral planning and help you arrange your wishes on paper.

You will receive a Forever Gift of Love book to record all pertinent information about your life, your family, friends to contact, the type of services you want, flowers, music and remembrances. This process helps you organize all your information in one place, relieving your family of having to search for the information they need during a time of stress.

Do I have to pay for my funeral at the time I prearrange?
You may prearrange your funeral wishes and not pay for the service. Keep in mind that the cost of funerals continues to rise with inflation. When you fund your funeral, you are assured that the rising cost of your funeral service is covered. This relieves your family of the financial burden. They are free to honor you and look toward the future.

Are there any costs not covered by my prepaid funeral contract?
Often, preneed plans exclude what are called “cash advances” – charges for flowers, death certificates, death notices– because they are supplied by outside firms. Many people choose to establish a discretionary fund for those items in their preneed contract to cover these expenses.

Do I have to pay for my funeral all at one time?
Forever offers a variety of payment plans to suit different lifestyles. One of those plans is to pay for your funeral in full at the time of prearranging. When you prearrange with a funeral service professional who offers Forever coverage, you can also choose a flexible payment plan. With so many payment plans, our wish is to make funding as simple as possible for you, guaranteeing the maximum benefits.

Can I change my mind after prearranging or can't afford my payments?
Forever offers a 30-day trial period at the beginning of the contract. If, for any reason, you choose not to continue the contract, you may cancel. If your financial circumstances change, we also provide a 30-day grace period from the date your payment is due and we will grant one additional grace period of up to 12 months, upon written request. The guaranteed frozen price of your funeral will not be affected during this grace period.

What if I relocate?
Your Forever preneed arrangements go where you go. The prearrangement is transferable to any funeral home in the United States, should you relocate. If the cost of the funeral is higher at the transferred funeral home, you are not responsible for the increase. We are.

What about the rest of my family? Are they covered?
While each adult family member needs to prearrange separately, Forever offers a descendant protection plan. Unlike any such plans in the funeral industry, we pledge to provide a funeral of equal value to that of the prearrangement for any unmarried child, grandchild or great-grandchild under the age of 21, in the unlikely event of their death. We provide this benefit at no additional cost.
