Smith, Estelle Louise a retired educator in the Kirkwood School District, died Sunday, March 16, 2008 at her home in Des Peres. She was 95. Mrs. Smith grew up in Alabama and was a graduate of Tuskegee Institute. She was a 1932 Olympic nominee for the United States Olympics while attending Tuskegee. She ran track and played basketball for Tuskegee. She is also in the Tuskegee Hall of Fame. Mrs. Smith of Kirkwood, taught home economics, physical education, art and English at the J. Milton Turner School in Meacham Park and Home Economics at Nipher Junior High School in Kirkwood from 1938 until she retired.
Information & Directions Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2008 at FOREVER Oak Hill Funeral Home, 10301 Big Bend, Kirkwood, MO 63122. Funeral service will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, March 22, 2008 at the First Baptist Church, 304 Meacham Street in Kirkwood. Burial will be at Forever Oak Hill Cemetery following the service.
